Magnificent Marvelous Muscovies!

Split up my duckling-hoard today, since they're getting too big for their nighttime shelter.

8 big-foot'ers, or as a high school yearbook would say: Most likely to be male.

And the 6 presumably females, and the who-knows?'ers. The 3 circled I'm gonna keep myself, 1 black pied, 1 magpie and 1 silver. For now...

I am a new Muscovy keeper and thought I would share photos of my new ducklings. The littles are 10 days old and so cute and friendly. The older juveniles I got when they were 3-4 weeks old. They always walk away from me if I get too close. I don’t think they like being photographed.

I think I might have only one female in that group, the black pied. The two sitting have giant feet. The other one standing I’m hoping might be female but the legs seem big to me. But I’m very inexperienced with this breed and ducks in general.

I have enjoyed reading this thread and learning about these amazing animals!

Thanks for all the scovie spam Elly! I can't believe I've had zero alerts I even missed the ducklings!!! . They are gorgeous btw! Abit quiet over here, its the 23rd and I'm fast loosing hope of finding an egg before the 26th. I got so excited this morning thinking I found the makings of a nest... turns out it was just the drake .
