Man my garage stinks like bad skunk. i just went down there and now can smell skunk on my clothes. Off for shower numba 3.

Make up a peroxide solution for your skunk smell. A pint of peroxide, a box of baking soda, and a couple squirts of dawn dishsoap in a gallon of water. Use this to wash you, and anything else that smells like skunk. Works wonders.

Yotetrapper if you have a spray bottle that can spray a fine mist, you can open your bator, pull all the fluffed out chicks out and mist the eggs with warm water. Close up the bator and things should be fine. This is what I have been doing to make room for more to hatch. My bator recovers heat and humidity really quickly though.

Mine were early too, and I noticed a big difference in activity level between my last hatch, when everyone hatched on day 21, and these early birds who began coming out yesterday morning. The batch that came out when they were suppose to were alot more lively and played egg ball rougher.

Set 18 eggs, tossed two on day 10 (clear), had 15 hatch and one was a quitter, but I'm not in the mood to discover at what stage he quit.

Amazing things are learned on these large group hatches... will write down the skunk desmeller recipe.

I'm not going to make a suggestion; but will offer the opinion that my many sticky chicks were a result of my indoor humidity being higher than I've ever hatched at before, resulting in higher bator humidity and my failure to get it down to 60/65%. I fear my nonpipped may be drowned, and the two pipped will have to be helped later today. I have both vent plugs pulled now, and humidity is still running 65% and over. I opened the bator frequently and sure never dropped the moisture in there too low last night or this morning.

I've found that Fels Naptha soap works wonders... skin and clothes. My problem is the wind brought the skunk discharge into my garage... uggh. I can't believe it's still so potent as to impregnate my clothes ...

Well that's good to know too! I always have fels naptha on hand, as I make my own laundry soap.

Ok, so I helped out the three I had suspected were stuck, and I am glad I did! There were actually four stuck, and one was already dead. The other three were superglued into their shells. I misted them with warm water and the membrane peeled right off. I then misted all the remaining eggs in there.

Steve, of your eggs, I have 4 of 8 white am out, with two more noticeable pips. 4 of 6 favs, with the last 2 pipped. AND it appears my one and only fertile cornish, has HATCHED.

I was just getting ready to help a chick that is fully zipped but it's "lid" is stuck to it's head keeping it from getting out. I watch it lift it up and down up and down. Looks like Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. Anyway I got all my stuff ready to open the bator really quick, grab dried chicks and grab Oscar when I saw I have 4 eggs zipping right now. Sooooo I will give them some more time before I rescue Oscar and the others. I am proud of myself, I haven't opened the bator lid since the day I locked them down.
