Well I came home last night to confirm what I was suspecting. Major humidity issues, for some reason. I had several stuck chicks, so, I began helping them at 2 in the morning instead of going to bed like I should, lol.
The ICU unit consisted of these 7 chicks:
A pumpkin Hulsey who had presumably been laying on his side/back for over 12 hours and seem unable to stand.
A white Ameraucana who had pipped and stopped. This one was the worse. I started helping and saw no blood, but when I removed from the shell all at once a LOT of blood was dripping. Figured was a goner.
A white Ameraucana who had zipped and stopped. I removed this one from the shell. It was ready to be out, but was severely U-shaped, and I didn't expect it would recover.
A FBCM who had zipped and stopped. Same as above.
And an Easter egger who had pipped and stopped. This guy I stopped helping when I hit blood.
A blue Orpington had a large pip but I still saw veins and so waited.
A salmon Faverolle had pipped but was alive and not stuck so waited.
I misted everybody in the bator, and went to bed.
And this morning??? I have 6 of 7 healthy, fluffy, walking chicks. I have to think this is somewhat of an Easter chick miracle!! Some of these, especially the one bleeding like a stuck pig, should not of made it, but they all did! The only one not out, is the salmon faverolle. Gonna check on him in a minute. Ook, just checked on him, and he died in the shell. But STILL.... half of these chicks should have, lol.
Oh, and my chickens decided to open their run gate and let themselves free range this Easter morning. Guess they wanted me to have my own Egg Hunt today, lol.
Wishing everyone a happy, joyous Easter day!!
