And I love the pic of the goats, we're hoping to get our first two pretty soon.
So I have a couple pics to share. Mostly because they make me feel good and I have a chick pipping at the wrong end and am not sure what to do, if anything
OK.. I'm IN. This will be my first time to hatch eggs.. can't decide if I want to get a cheap incubator off ebay/amazon or try to build my own. I'm only looking to keep two girls for myself. Any others that survive will go to a friend who wants more- or be sold on CraigsList.
I also need to decide WHAT I'm hatching. Anyone want to sway me one way or the other on SQ Black Ameraucanas, BC Marans, another beautiful/rare SQ bird, or some kind of banty to make 4H showmanship easier for my kids?
AND who wants to convince hubby that it is time to move out of town to some little house with 3 to 5 acres so I can have MORE chickens!?
can someone please help is my humidity of 75% to high if so how can i get it down without opening the incubator or can i open it quickly and take some water out since they have not piped yet
I don't think I would worry about it... Everyone has a different opinion on humidity levels and I personally don't think you are extremely high for lockdown... (it would have been too high in my opinion for the entire hatch...) If you are really worried.. open the incubator for about 30 seconds and see what that does to your humidity level.. nothing has pipped yet so you don't have to worry about shrinkwrapping..

If they haven't pipped yet, yes open the 'bator and let some of the humidity escape. If you have some flexible tubing or something like that, snake it into the 'bator and suck the water out (just start the draw and put the end of the tubing lower than the 'bator, don't actually get the water in your mouth).
That way, you can put the lid back on, with just a little gap. I was hesitant to reply because I don't have the kind of incubator you have, sorry. So I'm just making a SWAG (Scientific Wild-A$ $ed Guess).
