Mary,
My Brinsea Advance is calibrated wrong too. I lost almost all of my first hatch in it because I assumed it would be right. Then after a disasterous first hatch, I checked it with the Spot-check, and it was off by about 1.5 degrees. I was so mad. I had over 200.00 dollars worth of eggs in that thing, and only got 5 chicks, all had to be helped out. Anyway, now I haveto run it at 100.5 and keep checking it with the Spot-check.

I am curious as to how the humidity pump works. Is it just an aquarium hose that runs into the bottom of the 'bator? I was thinking of drilling a small hole in mine and running some aquarium hose into the bottom to add water. Is there something in the bottom of the bator to add moisture-like pads or sponges?

Would appreciate your input.....Thanks

The pump has a water tank and a small hose that runs into the top through a slated hole. It drips water onto a folded piece of absorbent paper. The pump has a crank that turns and restricts or allows water into the tubing based on the humidity in the incubator. That is a bad technical explanation! It works well though.

Morning all ! I see we're at 114 , so welcome to the party . Its 38 and raining here , but forcast to drop to 10 today with a blizzard watch over the next two days over some of us in the midwest . Little more than 1 and 1/2 hours to set time , and two EEs were inspecting nest boxes when I was out there a little earlier . My dogs knocked my computer over this morning , but hopefully my signal strength is back again and the battery charger connection will remain stable for awhile [ it is loose and any movement causes it too stop charging ] .

11:22 here and I just got my bator rewired and working. Fortunately, I found and fixed a problem while working on it. I'd made an egg turner, but with the weight of eggs in it, it would have stayed flat. I ran to get some more wire and built a long pyramid underneath it, so it will stay tilted. The kids have named the eggs; Pip,Pop,Pow,Sheldon,Eggbert, and Tracy (don't ask). We will see who, if anyone, hatches. Forgot to bring them last night to a warmer room; I have to make every mistake in the book here. Hoping nature prevails in spite of my efforts!

Thank you to everyone who helped me get this thing together!!!

Less than 2.5 hours to set time. I've already done chores. DS#3 is cleaning out the marans pen.
The polish pen can wait till next week.a

It's 54 degrees out there, headed up to a high of 71 today.
