Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I don't know. I do find it interesting though. I have read up on it, and have even considered giving it a try. Just haven't got around to it yet. I think, some day, I may give it a try.

I've looked into it too. It's not something I could do to a bird that's fully alert and able to feel pain. I have no idea what the only Vet that handles birds around here would charge... probably more than DH wold think reasonable. Might be ok for a pet but I looked into it as a possible way to grow out the boys without fighting. Not a sensible option to spend that much money on dinner.

Oh, no.... I am not talking sweet or friendly. That, they are not. They are majestic and beautiful, and they want to forage all the time. They eat very little feed .... mostly they forage and are OHHHHHH soooooo beautiful in the process!

My BR's are the ones that come to me for attention. Most of them are naked right now so I feel compelled to give in. My one BO that stalks me? She WILL be in my arms or my feet pay the price.

Laree gets a cold.

I get a sinus infection.

Are these bators/eggs infectious?

I have probably 30 or more roos that all live together with my hens, and everyone gets along. I tried to introduce a new one the end of last week and it really upset the applecart. I had to put him in his own cage for his and everyone else' protection. I put 3 hens in with him to keep him happy. Got him From AzKat and he's gorgeous and very tame, but made a mess of the pecking order. It took about 3 days for them to sort it back out after I put him in seclusion. So I'm just suggesting that you can possibly grow roos without them fighting, once they get the pecking order straightened out.

Bob.. .did AzKat tell you that your gorgeous roo hatched out in my house?

He's a rare, clean-faced Golden Duckwing EE that came out of a 'purebred' blue ameraucana egg.
