Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

High winds all night long, here. Slept (?) fitfully. Wind roared and whistled, rattled the windows, the doors whined, I began to fear I'd hear, "And your little dogs, too!"

Coulda been flying monkeys out there, throwing things all over the yard. *sigh*

I will be going home during my lunch hour to lockdown.

More to say/write/share but my coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

All eggs went into lock down. The only ones that look suspicious are the splash marans...they seemed to have some fluid on top?? Didn't quite look right. So here's what in lock down.

3 Midget White Turkey
4 Splash Marans ?????
11 Blue Eggs (I can't remember which ones are which White and W/BW Ameraucana's)
2 1st gen. Olive Eggers
2 Project Pullet eggs

Only the Brinsea that we open quickly and pull them out, cuz it is sooooo crowded in there. Anyway, I that is what I am doing. It recovers the temp and humidity very quickly, where the styrofoam bators don't.

Just my opinion .... others may do it differently.

Is that one of our contests? Sure would be a cool one, yes! I can't remember that we have it though. Did I miss that one somewhere?

I don't think so...just a suggestion, say midnight to 11:59pm Jan 1...guesses submitted up to 11:59pm the day before Dec 30

as Kathy said, the brinsea recovers very quickly especially with the humidity pump. Have never had a shrinkwrapper doing this - and it's CROWDED in there. They look like one of those old phonebooth contest photos where they stuff a zillion people into a phonebooth and everyone's face is pressed against the glass. I had 27 stuffed in my brinsea on my last hatch so I had to take some out and put them in my 'recovery room.

I snatch them out when there's about 10 in there or so.

We just added this last contest, "How many posts at the strike of New Years," because a member offered up another prize. If anyone has a prize to offer, we could sure use your suggestion as another contest! That would be great!
