Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Exactly why I will never loan out a bator. I had a neighbor who really wanted me to. It may have come back fine, but you know what, if someone messes up one of my bators, it's gonna be me.

I'm with Shakespeare..."Neither a borrower nor a lender be" Loaning my very large canning pressure cooker out a couple years ago has taught me that.

I was so nicely asleep and my work pager just goes off a few minutes ago. It's on the bedside stand right next to my head. And no, it's not my turn to be on call tonight.

And no one at the hospital will own up to paging me.

GRRRrrr!

Gave me an opportunity to get up and check my eggs though, I'm still at 50% humidity, but I add more water and my incubator starts dripping out the bottom holes. I give up.

Okay, I did it. I quickly candled and discarded the obvious duds. Never done that before at lockdown.

Of 21 eggs, 14 were obviously not gonna do anything. Either clear or with blood rings.

Five were dark, possibly still developing. 2 were iffy but I didn't want to give up on 'em.

Only two shipped BR eggs left, and the other five were TJs eggs!

I'm down to 1 silkied Cochin egg (PO really rattled those eggs), 2 white silkie eggs (of 4), 2 black copper marans, 6 blue/cuckoo marans, and 8 Ameraucanas.

19 into lockdown...still over 50% so far.

Bob's Henhouse :

Ok, how about a contest I'd have a shot at. Ding-a-ling with the most chickens still participating in a hatch even though they have no earthly reason to.

Maybe the prize could be counseling?

I am, of course, just kidding.

Dear Bob, tragic news, Incubitis is incurable. Rest assured you are not alone with your terrible affliction...
