Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Locking down tonight when I get home. I was still having to adjust my hatching incubator for temp. If it is not cooperating when I get home, I will just lockdown in the other one and the other eggs will have to wait to be set.

I checked on the birds before leaving for work and the dorks were all crowded into the smaller coop, hiding from the rain. The only bird in the larger coop (about 4 times the size) was a hen in the nest box. They looked like sardines and gave me a look that said "feel sorry for us". I wish I had my camera with me then. I have been having the same trouble with getting a crowing picture. They look at me like I am crazy with my camera and refuse to crow. I need to find some kind of motivation for them. Hmmmm
I want that incubator.

Boys will cooperate or dinner is served.

I was sound asleep also and was awakened by something.

Here's hoping I get back to sleep soon. Humidity in the hovabator is at 68% at present... if you average the three.

Sounds like we are all locked down.

Should be interesting to see if we get any day 19 pips tomorrow afternoon. That's only happened to me once.

So Renee... my FBCMs all had decent air cells, so now in order to make them hatch I need to keep the humidity above 68%?

So candled my eggs as I locked them down. I'm a little disappointed....A few of my eggs that we drove and picked up candled clear. They were the ones I was most excited about.

Oh well, hopefully the rest will hatch successfully! My fingers are officially crossed. This is when I'm the most nervous! Good luck everyone!

I locked down with all 21 eggs. Seems some little person visiting on CHristmas day took my candling flashlight and I really couldnt tell for sure what I was seeing. They all had dark shapes with aircells so who knows for sure. I did hear a very small peep in there this evening. May have some bantam cochins hatching early.

I was talking to my DD today and she ask if there's a world record for what we are doing and I said I didn't know. Now that's something to think about. I'm locked down and I did it at noon but I couldn't see in the eggs because it was day time and I couldn't get it dark enought. So I put the 28 I had left on lock down.

I have 2 ducklings internally pipped.. no worries there for a new years hatch as they are so slow..but I am a bit worried about the silkie eggs I have. From 10 I am down to five - with 1 that has cracked the shell already. Looks like I have some fuzz butts who are too impatient to wait until New Years. My last lot of ducks and chicks both hatched a day early too- so I have paid closer attention to the temp- but its been spot on the whole time.
