Well the roos (except maybe one) will end up on craigslist, the hens from this batch have a coop that currently only has four tiny bantams in it and room for more. The next eggs I may sell off the babies to a lady who is always bugging me for LF chicks.. Depends on if I have any girls in this hatch!

And I may cancel the chick order. Haven't decided yet. I have the worst luck and seem to hatch a lot of roos so we shall see what I end up with.

I just learned that the gift certificate that ChooksChick from the Garry Farms to give as an Award for this contest. I'm more than humbled by this gesture. I also want to say I've been side by side with all kinds of hatchings! My hardest hatching was with over 140 eggs in the incubator and complete temperature failure... But my other heart aches have been with a hatch of 1 or a hatch of none. I honor each of your efforts, your triumphs and your heartaches and your joys! Hatching is not for sissies. The skill of incubation and decision making on water/temps/environment/helping/not helping....It's more stressful than anyone can imagine who has not done this! I sit now and wait and watch for a precious 12 to hatch that are a custom hatch and pray and hope and walk back and forth to that hatcher! Waiting on a peep!!! but it's not due for 2 more days.

I want to say YOU are all winners for caring and loving your little babies even before they are born, and caring and time and efforts you have given to this and every incubation effort just brings Tears to My eyes. I love each of you for this! A Special thanks to Mahonri for starting this major hatchathon and all the judges. I also want to add a second gift certificate for $15 to the Garry Farm in addition to the One Chooks purchased!

Hmmm, Back to Topic, ChooksChick thought you might want to know what sorts of hatching eggs you can be getting from us this season and I hope I haven't forgotten any of the flocks!!!! LOL and I wonder why our feed bill exceeds a housepayment every month! Poultry addiction is a tough one! The little dark Icelandic that I thought I was going to loose and very nearly almost culled is looking better.

I put it into a little cup and that has forced it to use its feet to try and get out.

It's amazing how much better it is in the brooder in a cup. I have a separate room in the brooder for four tiny chicks that need to be apart for a bit.

Wish I would have known about the cup trick for the earlier one I culled, but it was much more severe, so it may not have made it anyway... at any rate, I learned something new this hatch because of someone who cared.

Yep one hatch I ended up with 13 roos out of 17 eggs. /sigh. I kept the 4 pullets and one roo and gave the rest to 4-H. (they knew they were boys).

Update:
Chickens : 5/6 but still some movement in 6th egg
Coturnix : 45/65 but some are still rumbling too
Button : 10/21 and they are still popping!

I'm going to have to drag all my thermometers out after the final hatch and check and mark cold spots again. I'm about to toss the hova-bator as it is soo temperamental! My chicks from the turn-x all hatched on time and hardly any issues.
