Well HC, you'll be happy to know that I followed your instructions.
When I went back in to check the temps, the
Brinsea was just perfect.
I looked at the Accurite probe I had in there and it said 99.4. The other two thermometers are close to the sides of the bator (1588) and they both were reading 98.8.
So I pulled out the trusty
Brinsea spot check thermometer and put it down through the upper vent hole and rested it just above the turner. Temp said it was 99.5. Perfect.
I put it into the
Brinsea and at foam level where the eggs will sit it was 99.3 even though the read out on top says 99.5. So I imagine that's close enough.
YEAH!!!!
I guess I added a little too much water to both so I opened the vents and when the humidity gets down to 40%, I'll turn off the heating units and put the eggs in the turners of one of the bators... and turn the other one off.
Now then. Here is a question for you. Since I'm guessing there are different temps throughout the Hovabator... closer to the wall it's cooler, right under the fan it's warmer. Do any of you ever change the position of the eggs during incubation? Move the ones under the fan to the outside, move the outside eggs under the fan? Same thing in the
brinsea?
Can you tell I want to make it a science?
Perhaps now that I know I've got them running at perfect temps, I should just kick back and smile.
... nah, not in my nature.
The great egg wait begins!!! Lay hens! Treat gently post office! Fly planes... drive trucks... yeah, you get the picture.
