Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Folks,

I didn't join in with you on the New Year's Day Hatch, but I was hatching along.

I have truly enjoyed reading through the posts (as many as I could) -- it was certainly difficult to keep up!

You're a great group, and I may join you with the Easter Day Hatch.

I've input my data into the spreadsheet just for giggles.

Here's pics of my Buckeyes.

May the power of the chick be with you!

Wow Janet Hatch? No wonder you wound up doing what you are doing!

Cute chicks! Hope you do join in on the fun for the Easter hatch! Mahonri, I think the die hard contest is still going on. I am pretty sure I am out but it looks like Linda and goochgirl are still working it at least! Do you have an actual cut off time for it?

I hope the die hard isn't over yet.. I still have one in the bator peeping at me. Not like the the contest being over will actually stop it from hatching or anyting..

Congratualtions SteveH!!! I enjoyed reading your posts and cringed with you over your trials, tribulations and the things that seemed to happen to no one on earth, but you!!

The die hard contest is still alive and the competition is stiff!

I'm crossing my fingers for everyone with eggs still in their bators for signs of life.

Congrats to all the winners, but this shindig ain't over yet!

And MsFuzzyButts is still in it! Sorry I missed that you had a peeping egg. I had two yesterday morning. Came home to one hatched and the other hatched out right after dinner.

Congrats to all the winners of the contests but I think we are all winners to be a part of this community. I love it here and this thread (and many others) prove that there are still wonderful people around willing to help, console, joke, hug and over all send out great love to one another. It gives me hope for all even if the world is going to h&$$ in a hand basket I can't think of better company

I pulled my remaining eggs and cleaned the bator last night, I will soon be ready for round two and try for some serama's.

Thanks for the thread Mahonri, and everyone else involved, it was a lot of fun!

Congrats on all the babies and good luck to the die hard contenders! Can't wait for the Easter Hatch - I'm shopping for incubators now and hoping my Iowa Blues will start laying in time. I'm leaning toward the Genesis 1588. Is that a good choice for a first time hatcher?

I don't know about that one and I have almost no experience but I was very happy with the Brinsea Octagon Advance with the humidity pump. It was set it and forget it. The only thing that I think I had a problem with is not having an additional thermometer to verify temps. I am pretty sure the digital read out on temperature is for the top of the incubator and not down where the eggs are so I think this is the reason mine hatched late.

That is the one I have, with the turner. I can't say it is the best one for a first timer, because this is just the second bator I have ever purchased. But I will say it is very user friendly and has been very stable on temps and for holding the humidty. I have an extra bator that my hubby built for me out of a styrofoam cooler. And it seems to be almost as good as the purchased ones!
