Isn't it funny how we worry over a .5 degree of temperature and 1% humidity and blame ourselves over every little thing that could have caused an egg not to hatch and broodies can be off the nest and eggs get cold and still hatch? Amazing. BTW nice GLW! I have one of those too. I used to have two until one got in the dogs area.
Can't blame the dogs though, they were where they were suppsed to be. I have two SLW too. Those were my first four chickens!
I had a SLW but I lost her on new years day. I found her on the floor of the coop, looked like she had fallen off the roost and hit her head on the poo board edge. Poor thing.
What amazes me the most about her is that she herself was born from an incubator and sent to me to brood. She's had absolutely no chicken momma to see (as she's also my first broody) and model, and yet hormones and instinct have told her what to do. How crazy is that?
Also speaking of crazy, it's like the twilight zone over here. I've got broodies hatching out in the coop and now TWO MORE CHICKENS HAVE STARTED MOLTING... Don't they realize it's JANUARY IN MAINE?!
