Thanks... if I can make someone laugh, my day is better.

Yesterday my very determined broody in the coop hatched out 3 eggs! She still has a 4th under her. Unbelievable as it was about 20 degrees during the days she was sitting, and quite a few times, especially early on, I found her on the wrong nest when I got home and her eggs were cold. Turns out it didn't really matter...

Isn't it funny how we worry over a .5 degree of temperature and 1% humidity and blame ourselves over every little thing that could have caused an egg not to hatch and broodies can be off the nest and eggs get cold and still hatch? Amazing. BTW nice GLW! I have one of those too. I used to have two until one got in the dogs area.

Can't blame the dogs though, they were where they were suppsed to be. I have two SLW too. Those were my first four chickens!

I was just about to say the same thing. My temps were of by maybe a degree and it messed everything up. So yes, very amazing!! Congrats SCG!!!!

I had a question about the NN. My little chick sleeps standing up with beak to the floor ( I really need to get a pic of that). Now her (I hope) neck is a starting to peel. Is she getting sunburn from the heatlamp. The lamp is about 4 feet above the brooder and temps inside the brooder are at 80-83 right now. Should I put some neosporin or vasaline on her neck?

I don't and mine are peeling a bit, too. They also get burnt in the summer a little bit from the sun, but I've had no issues I've had to step in on.

Thanks
