I hadn't read the thread for about a week and came in looking for something.

Didn't think it would be this.

I'm just so sorry this happened.

So so sorry

Shucks I haven't been on this thread in over a week... DW had two miscarriages between #s 5 & #6. It's rough. Prayers headed your way Rathbone. Glad you've joined us for the Easter Hatch.

I've got to get pics of my babies. After I found the partially eaten NN... I did a count and 3 more were missing!

If I get a chance that hawk will be taking a dirt nap. It will probably never happen.

I've GOT to get pics up here of my babies. They now know that I'm the treat dude and they LOVE me.

0Ok, do you think it's to cold at night to put my babies out? The reason being is, I have them in a play pen and they are now sitting on top of it. This morning when I went to give them water IN MY BARE FEET I stepped in poop.

And it wasn't from just one they must have all been in that spot. It was a pile just from overnight. They need more room.

They are fighting with each other, a lot.

It's been getting down to 10 at night but I have a heat lamp out there, I have plastic around the shed and 2 bags of shaving on the floor. It's about 5 feet x 8 feet and I have 19 chicks. They have their feathers and I can't stand them in the house any longer.

I will miss them but I CAN'T STAND IT.

ginbart,

I dunno about putting them outside. I put out some 7 week old chicks, and they have 2 red heat lights (250 watt) and a heater next to the pen. They are doing fine, but I don't think I would put out any that were any younger than that. I have 5 and 6 week olds in my heated garage.

Can you put netting or even a piece of fencing wire on top of your brooder, to keep them in?

Good luck!
