Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Here's my entry for the calendar contest. I would say this was her diva look, but with those legs, I'd bet on rooster.

turner in the hovabator is stuck/stopped.

Any suggestions?

Only heaven knows how long it could have been stuck.........

Try tapping the silver motor thingy (technical term

) Mine got stuck once and I tapped it and it started up again. As my dad would say, "beat on it with a screwdriver" Maybe it will work

You have me laughing with the "jockey sized friend". My husband is a tiny little thing (I am not) and we have been called more than once with the request that he crawl into some tiny space. Which is fine...we get to call a favor in return when we need some big burly lifting done.

Mahonri...........have you candled those Icelandic eggs yet? They are super easy to see into. ETA: Hope your sinus infection is a bit better so you can candle.

Y'all are funny!

I would not call myself jockey-sized, but I am flexible and have been called upon to climb up to balconies and fit through dog-doors for friends who lost keys or locked themselves out. I also am the one generally chosen to climb under our old house to put new furnace filters in.

It's a happy day when you check the bator and the temp is 100 and the high/ low readout for the last 24 hours shows a high of 100 and a low of 99!

I finally got the TVbator fine-tuned! Just in the nick of time, because my LF Araucana eggs and my FBCM eggs showed up yesterday! I am going to be a hatching fool, glued to the TV from Christmas (I set my mix eggs and some of my own E.E. eggs on the 3rd) to the 12 E.E. eggs that I set on the 11th at noon for New Years to January 5th when my LF Araucanas and FBCMs are due! NOW I see why people say they areNEVER doing staggered hatches again!

I have to admit that after messing around with water heater T-stats and light bulbs and small heaters, the wafer T-stat and heating element out of my hovabator ended up inside the TVbator and is responsible for the perfect temp now! I figured why re-invent something when tried and true is available?

So, I now have 2 large pieces of styrofoam, because all of the innards and the auto-turner are now inside the TVbator! C'mon babies!

I have Incubatitis! This is my first incubating experience in over 20 years!
