I do feel like a "poor relation" with my 12 little E.E. eggs in the contest, but that's how it is when most of my eggs arrived on December 14th, so they are due January 5th!
So, 12 E.E. on New Years, but 10 FBCM, 4 RIR, 9 bantam Araucana, 12 LF Araucana and 8 E.E.x polish.
I noticed on of the RIR eggs was oozing, so I researched "eggs stuck to turner" on here and read about warm water treatments etc. The RIR egg had glued itself AND the FBCM egg next to it to the turner! To make a long story short, the FBCM egg broke.
WAAAH!
It was fertile! This poor little gray alien-looking fetus with the protruding web of veins made me both sad and hopeful that the other 9 FBCM eggs will be fertile! I cannot see through them with my Super-bright candler, so at least there is hope!
This sad death made me grumpy and ALMOST ruined my day, until a smile on the face of a stranger brightened it! See this post for the story of the smile - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5322634#p5322634
Happy Hatch vibes to us all!
