Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Just to save my place to where I've caught up.

Things are getting rough in here with lockdown coming up.

Oh and mine will be the cutest! That is if I can get them to come out of their eggs.

Wooooo...........wind just shook my windows hard!

Guess the worse part of the storm is here.

Ok I woke up and my humidity is down to 44% - despite a drenched maxi pad, a wet half washcloth, both troughs filled and the vent down to 1/3.

I'm done. There's not much else I can do.

My chicks definitely won't be the cutest with egg membranes stuck on their faces.

I'm going to add some more water and head off to work and hope for the best until I get back.

Well I am really hoping that I haven't lost all of them. For the first time since we moved here, we lost power for I think about an hour or so.

I woke up to no power and the house was cooler than normal. When the power did come back on the temperature in the incubator was 79 and humidity was up to 70%. I never opened the bator to keep as much heat in it as possible and the power is back on now (obviously) Temp is back up to 99.6 and humidity is staying around 50% (I have been increasing it since before bed last night) I am not going to candle again since I can't see through the shells for movement anyway. Just going to go into lockdown this morning and hope for the best.

BTW when I told DH last night that we were down to 8 eggs all he could say was that we will have to try this again.

See told you he is a closet hatch-a-holic. He just gets to blame the craziness on me!

Crystal Creek, I am going to have to PM you about some of those gorgeous lavender Ameraucana eggs for the Easter hatch!

OK, I'll admit it, I'm a tad FREAKED... Kathy tried to reassure me in a PM, but when I candled, those Icelandics, look like they are at least 2 to 3 days behind everybody else.

I may keep the bator running until next Tuesday hoping for eggs to hatch.

And I have to work today... I hate losing sleep worrying cuz it doesn't to a %$*&*$#$! bit of good!

SERENITY NOW!!!!!!!!

Actually that storm is still hitting us. It is snowing and the winds are blowing pretty good. We have a winter warning up until 5 PM tomorrow evening. Hopefully we won't lose power again. I am thinking that they had some kind of malfunction way up the line since Dugway was without power as well so whatever they did to fix the problem hopefully won't happen again. Our power lines are underground in our development but they are above ground in other areas. Still could lose power to a falling tree limb.

for no more power outages. I do have to say that with all of the other storms we have had go through here since I moved up here we haven't lost power so we probably have a good chance of not loosing it. Now all we have to do is figure out if we are going to attempt going to work today. Dugway is not closed yet (they have their power back as well) but the post information number is cautioning about winds, blowing snow and slippery roads. I don't know if we want to attempt Johnson's pass to Dugway since the worst of the snow hasn't even gotten here yet.

dsqard: Traveling there this morning probably won't be as bad as coming home.

Can you call in and say, "sorry, NOT today!"?
