No, it's not standing. What I don't get is why it was so cemented in the shell. I had other chicks hatching at the time that weren't sticky, they came out fine, fluffed up normal. I've had chicks hatch after it fine as well. I just don't get it.

These are supposed to be silkie eggs. One egg was a darker color and I have be waiting on it to hatch to see what color came out of it. Here is a pic...

Now all I have to do is patiently(yah right) wait for spring to come so i can start hatching my own eggs again. I am looking forward to continuing my project Serama/Cochin crosses. They're coming along great, but so far I only have one hen from these guys, since I was stupid and sold the rest.

It was probably a bad spot in the bator. My Elmer was sooo glued in it took me 45 minutes to get her to look like that pic! I hope it makes it!!!

I agree with Debi. My kids both got ear infections constantly and we got their adenoids removed to take away the jumping-off point for their germs- they both snored like mad, too. Neither of them has had an ear infection since, and they're teens now.

Can you ditch milk products until she's done with this? They thicken the mucus and make it harder to drain everything. Also, giving her probiotic supplements may help a lot- we'd open capsules and sprinkle them over a spoonful of applesauce to get our kids to take them, but I think you can get liquid versions now. Many times that will help clear up stuff, plus help her recover from the antibiotics faster.

Of course, you know chicken soup helps, right? Scientifically proven to decrease swelling in mucus membranes and help fight illness and dehydration!!

I always spritz the duck and goose eggs. I've had good hatches with this. It also helps to put a dish of warm water in the incubator just before lockdown, if you have room that is.
