Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

If I had a bigger place I'd get ducks...as it is... too many chickens

Oh sweetie yes I do know. My eggs were not cheap.

USPS has never been rough on eggs I or DH have ordered. I guess because of the Christmas increase in mail the USPS got rough.

I thought I had iffy ones......because they were so scrambled they were darkish. I cracked mine open this morning. 3 of those had started to develop in all that scrambled mess!

I definitely will not have any shipped during that part of the year again! I had 2 bators going too......until I candled on day 12 and was able to remove all those that were scrambled or had detached air cells.

I am hoping for much better results for everyone for the Easter hatch!

Thank you from all of us Nancy!

It's nice to see someone who is so much into the world of chickens, come in and share failures as well as successes.

OK!

I just wiped down all the thermometers and hydrometers and the bleach is stilling on the counter waiting for me to clean the bators later on. I have some lightly saturated paper towels in there now and will let the bleach work it's magic until I go for a full cleanup.

I need to find some pullets or hens and start hatching from my birds. I'm going to add lights in a few days I think and see what happens with finally getting some eggs again. I'll order more eggs as I can afford it and get maybe a hatch or two in cause Easter I'm having thr BEST (PEST) hatch.

Some of these chicks were supposed to be sold to pay for flags for the National Cemetry where Bill is buried, so I have another plan and I'm going to be posting on the forum when I get it set up. I have to do this. It's just not fair that I go out on National holidays and they don't all have one.

I also need to start making enough money to keep my birds in feed. I have collected some nice birds over the past few months. Bill was able to help me with my chicken addiction and realized how much these birds help me in my life, so I can't let him down and not do what I said I was going to , which is to breed some awesome birds. I'm determined!

I guess my lonely chick was just meant to go. He would have been alone. Spoiled but alone. I need more FBCMs! My flock except the ones hatched in April are getting old and I need to start replacing them. Wish my babies would start laying. they just don't have the lines I want though, but they'll be part of awesome darn it. I need to do what I did with dogs for so many decades, so get ready people cause I'm going to start having birds to die for.

No longer depressed or disappointed just determined!

Sadly, I still have eggs in the incubator.

I plan on candling to see what the heck is going on. I do not hear anything from one of the incubators so I think all hope is gone.
