Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Of all the various breeds and mixes in this hatch , your TJ's eggs are trhe ones that intrigued me the most . I've forgotten how many made it to lockdown , are there still some in the oven ?

I'm with you, Steve! I can hardly wait to hear more!

Been taking care of the dog and I found 4 of my young birds dead today.

I'm so in a daze today.

Last week I lost my quail and a rabbit.

I was so hoping a new year meant maybe something good would happen for a change.

Peaches is doing a little better, but they didn't do much at all for her at the Vet. I bought some vitamin paste and made her rice and ground beef and she got the chicken soup my daughter had come over to raid from the fridge. We soaked bread in it and she's eating very little, but compared to the way she was I guess that's better than nothing. The vet asked if we wanted to out her down, but couldn't figure out what happened to her. She's lost a lot of weight in 24 hrs and I was afraid since one of my daughters lost her dog to cancer a few years ago, that it was that. Vet says no. UMMMM I didn't graduate, but went to school at UC Davis to be a large animal vet. There's test involved! He didn't run any. But she did get up, curled up in some soft towels and is sleeping and she did sit up for a while. She just flopped in my arms and I didn't think she'd even live through the day. I didn't think she'd make it to the vet. I actually brought her home to die and not there.

Anyway she's doing better with what I've done so far. Hope by morning I'm already getting onto her. Taking her to our vet in the Bay tomorrow. Once she's better I'm sending her to live with my daughter who's been asking for her for a while now. She like to dress her up and put bows on her. whatever!

OH and my pm box seems ok and I've been getting and sending some, so might have been a glitch.

Linda are they all yellow colored? Interested to know if it seems like they are all the same breed.

Yup, al 3 are yellow chicks. My luck they'll be Roos. I would like some pullets out of my hatches.

Discovered two SFs dead, today. One pullet, one cockerel; they are about 12 wks old. I think they may have piled to death in the cold last night. The little idjits kept sleeping in the pen area on the ground instead of upstairs in their coop! Now I just have one SF pullet and two cockerels, plus a buckeye something and some BCMs out of that batch.

And I really hope Peaches gets better. We had a dog that got sick suddenly and lost weight etc real fast. After almost losing her we found out that she had a blockage in her intestine from swallowing a piece of a chewed up tennis ball. The only way they found it was from an x-ray. I wonder why your vet didn't do any tests.

I really hope things get better for you soon.

Ok, need some expert advice. I have a chicky who is spraddle legged. I have his legs put back in the right place and secured. What do I need to expect him to do/try to do, with his legs tied together? Also he is a silkie with five toes and his outside toes are folded up under his feet... what do I need to do? Is it part of the spraddle or do I need to triy and secure them in the right position?
