Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Well, I lost a duckling today. Failure to thrive. I kept showing it the water and food and it just never had any interest at all. It's strange because it wasn't any smaller than the other three.

Thankfully the other three are doing really well.

I had the early bird that hatched around 10pm New Years Eve.. Then another one pipped Sunday morning... And was hatched out Monday morning when I got up at 7am.. And keep hearing peeps, so this last one is still hanging on..
Mahonri mentioned low temps.. Not that I disagree per say.. But my thermo's (have 2 in there) read on the money. Both are mercury, and the one closest to the floor reads 99 and the one at the top of the eggs reads 100... And if my temps are somehow low and flying under the radar of the thermometers, how did the first one manage to pop out with such gusto on New Years Eve? I makes no sense to me.. The only other time I have ever had a late hatch was with an LG still air.. I have a HovaBator 1588 now and it has always performed to a T... But you can bet when this last one hatches.. I will have the bator apart and check it from head to toe!!
