Mahonri's NYD Late Bloomers thread

Well, our little pipper is just that...a pipper. The cracks got longer, but not much more than that. No peeping that we can tell. I really hope there's a baby chick in there to show the kids when they wake up!

HI,Woke up from my nap to find a beautiful chick from a Blue copper marans egg..
Question."who's the daddy?"
I let all my chickens together because I was not going to hatch during winter

Anyway, 1 more pipped......................AN slw....Expect more by tomorrow.
Good Luck everyone still waiting...........

Wow! You got a pipper? When did that happen? I missed it. Hope you get a chickie out of it tonight. My poor kids are so disgusted with this experience they didn't even want to help me candle the eggs. My son said "we're not disgusted we're just tired." (he typed that; I think the rest are disgusted!) I'm still holding out for the last chick out prize! (naively hopeful cockeyed optimist) I keep hoping I'll wake up and see chicks.

Yep, pipped this morning. How cool is that?

No progress, though. I'm just not all that hopeful, I'm afraid.

Judges,
I am still on a learning curve.started last spring so have about a dozen hatches under my belt.
I just wanted to say.they use to tell me to stay busy and keep my hands off the eggs.
When I do remove one to help I wrap a wet , warm washcloth around the egg to keep it moist.
This has helped with a few that were shrink wrapped.
Seemed to give them just enough moisture to let them hatch.
24 HOURS IS WHAT IT TAKES SOMETIMES FOR A CHICK TO COMPLETE..........
I know it is hard to wait.
Good luck

...because tonight you sit staring into the incubator and on all other nights you...watch TV, read a book, do the dishes...?

Well I purposely put mine to hatch today. 10 eggs made lockdown, 5 hatched so far. We have a bunch of roos and hens all together so it was a bit of a guess as to what was going to come out. Looks like almost all are from my BCM roo and one was a big surprise from my Big Dumb Ugly Hen who I did not think was laying.

I hope all of you waiting for babies get some. Fingers crossed!

Well we all know mine was horrible.

One hatched with help and didn't make it.

Worse hatch ever for me since I used 2 incubators and started out with 82 eggs.

Don't forget we have a Chinese New Years hatch now. Gotta have some kind of NY hatch.

I need an EPIC FAIL thread... I didn't even intend to be in a contest but accidently threw my eggs in at the right time so Kathinmo convinced me to post the thread... Well Everything that can go wrong did... I had a heckuva time stabilizing the bator... using a 1588 for turning etc.. My turner stopped for 3 days and my humidity dropped them spiked... Well day of hatch pretty darn good... ended the day with 10 and everything pipping like crazy...looking like I was going to have a 90 percentile hatch and then the power went out... Two babies were zipping and pushing.. everthing else pipped and babies babies everywhere!!!! and then the power outage!!! OMG... I grabbed out the babies that were already hatched after a 1/2 hour (blanketed the bator etc)... They were crying... So in the dark I snatched them into a box while my car was warming up and my husband was trying to get the generator running... 1588 has hatch two in it and 1602 that was hard to stabilize is full of dead and dying pips.... EPIC FAIL... My onced strong chicks are tired and bawling and I now have the heat light on and they still are crying...I gave them a teddy and hope that they calm down....
