Maine

Widget and I had the same idea today. Got the hoop coop finished. We did manage to get the tarp on, it drug into place and the roosters put into it before nightfall. We're pooped. Ignore the speckled sussex, she's the self appointed intruder police.

Well, it doesn't look like I'm going to get any Orpingtons from this hatch (13 eggs), and I can't see into the Marans eggs to see anything.

I guess that's what I get for using shipped eggs. Does anyone have any Orpington or some Marans hatching eggs for sale ?

I have bama orps but haven't verified fertility yet, won't be able to collect any eggs til after the rain because of where they like to lay...I have some I am setting next week to check fertility. My girls have saddles because they look rough but not sure if he figured it out yet because my kids said he keeps going sideways

Is anyone interested in or know of someone interested in 2 hen turkeys, one a Royal Palm and the other is a Sweetgrass. these are 1 year old. My friend is looking to get $25 each.

Hoppy was nice enough to "re-home" some beautiful Orpington and BLR Wyandotte cockerels to my coop yesterday. (I have 1 GLW cockerel.) I am going to have fun seeing what colors and shapes hatch from the eggs, when the boys are old enough of course. For females I have a BLRW, a blue Wyandotte/Marans cross, an OEG/GLW banty, an OEG/BLRW (thanks Tay Fray !), 3 White Leghorns, 3 Golden Comets, 4 EE's, a GLW banty, 3 Unknown mutts, 1 Marans cross, a Silkie, 2 GLW's, a Partridge Rock, and 2 Barred Rocks. There will be some beautiful babies !

Got my garden beds in (FINALLY) and planted, got the area for the new coop cleaned up somewhat, and am glad for a rainy day & excuse to not do much else today.
The ducks are enjoying the rain, and the chickens are enjoying the buffet in the duck house.
Its a good Sunday to be a Mainer.
