I really hope it';s a spotted baby if it will be the only one. (paint silkie)

Unfortunately I got 50% too from the two eggs I got from you. I set them oh boy... Saturday I think or Sunday so I think they've still got a week to go. It'll be a lone chick for a few days but I should have poults and chicks hatching a few days later.

Sorry to hear that, Hoppy! I had a hatch with only one egg that made it to lockdown also, about a year ago. The little chick was so lonely, so I got him a few buddies from the feed store, and he lived one week and died. I am cautiously optimistic about my flock. I had a phone consultation with a vet, and she seemed to think that my hen's disease would have hit the rest of the flock already if it was highly contagious. She seemed to think it was more likely to be a reproductive issue, or cancer, especially since it is hatchery stock, but there was no harm in force feeding if the food was passing through okay. I decided I would give it a little more time, and if things don't improve, I'll have the 2 sick ones euthanized and a necropsy done. And then lo and behold, the first sick hen that has been flat for a week, started to walk around and drink on her own today. At first, I though she was happy to have company, as she had been in isolation and I added the second sick hen. Tonight, I put them both out in the garden hoop house, as opposed to in cages in my house. The hopefully recovering hen was walking around eating bugs and greens! The other hen is hunched flat on the ground, though. Time will tell.

That's because I got a lot of your chickens today ! Hahahaha Sure let's keep the same hours. They seemed to work for everyone.

I had a great time, got to meet some nice people and sold alot of birds. The lady I brought the BCM's to sell for was pleased when I dropped off her money. Hope to make it to Augusta but will have to see what the week brings for hatching.

Finally got the coop put together.

Just have to add the tarp to make it more weatherproof and the shelter. I think I will wait until after the rain and wind is over before adding the final touches and the chickens. But we really do need the rain so I'm not complaining.

I did kick the Silkies outside to the old coop area. The ducks don't use it and so far the chickens seem happy being out in the fresh air. They might change their mind by Monday but the coop is under the back deck so it is dry. That meant I could clean out the big brooder and move the young chucks and poults into that area. So if my ducks arrive next week there is now a brooder ready for them. Ah the joys of raising youngsters.
