All my chicks are now out in the transition coop. (My house is my own again!!!) They seem to be doing just fine out there, but I'm keeping the heat lamp on for the 2 marans... they are the youngest. I let the 3 largest chicks free range for an hour with my 12 adult hens. They all just ignored each other. Now if we can just get the new coop built before a fox visits. Hey... how many of you actually got a building permit for your coop? My town says if it's going to cost over $1000 material & labor you need a permit. And you have to count labor even if you're doing it yourself. Grrrr. We already started building the platform base. What if they say no? It's going to be 8'x12' with room for equipment, grain and shavings storage inside.
