Alright, someone needs to ban me from the feed stores! Went to Blue Seal today and picked up their last Orpington pullet as well as 5 SLWs.And got an incubator from TSC. lol
When it comes to selling chicks, if I put an ad on CL would chicks under 8 weeks old still need to be sold in a 6 minimum? Or would I be better off just waiting until they are older to sell extras?
Regarding my post above I caught Spartacus and Sgt Pepper fighting when I got home this afternoon, so looks like Sparty is going to have to be culled unless I can find a home for him. He is a Buff Orp, almost a year old. Great around the kids, pretty docile, I just don't have the space or time to set up a whole new coop and pen for a second flock. If anyone here wants him please PM me! But only if you'd be keeping him. If he's being culled and eaten we can do that on our own.I'm down in Standish, near Limington/Windham/Gorham.
I can hatch some out for you if you want.Does anyone have any barred rock pullets that are just hatched or are a few weeks/months old? I am looking for a friend.
Oh yes, but... when you get your cornish x rock from the meat case, haven't you noticed that there's always at least 6 of them lined up in the case????
This almost looks like it could be fowl pox. Dry.Can any of you help me figure out what on EARTH is going on with my roosters?? They do live together, but are both pretty docile and seem to get along just fine. They had spots like this last week, which cleared up by itself. Then in the last couple days they look like this... What could it be? None of the hens have spots, just the boys. I have to head to TSC in a bit, so if they have something that can treat this, I'll pick it up. Just not sure what this is or how to fix it!
In other news, despite swearing up and down that I was NOT going to deal with a brooder with a newborn in the house, I just *had* to buy a bunch of chicks at TSC yesterday. They were on sale, I couldn't resist...Picked up four red pullets, and 8 straight run partridge rocks. The rocks were only $0.50 each!
Everyone seemed to be in perfect health, but one of the red chicks died this morning. Not sure what the heck happened, but at least TSC will replace it.![]()
