Hello Indianfeathers!

Someone please remind me next winter that I promised not to complain about the cold anymore!

The heat got one of my Barred Rocks today. About 14 months old... Reached about 98º here today in South Thomaston - with a nice HOT breeze... Crazy weather. My other three 14 month olds were fine as well as my fourteen 14-18 week olds. Oh well, these things happen. Is tomorrow supposed to be the same?

Glad my new chicken coop is in the shade! My chickens were still in the coop really hot and they sucked down a ton of Water but atleastthey are all safe

I lost a splash silkie in the lightening last night, seems every time we have a big thunder storm I lose one bird (it was inside last night).

well we got to deal with this heat for another day then sunday its going back to our normal mid 70s to mid 80s for the week but i seen it hit 102 in a few places this afternoon its what the therm in my explorer was reading and the temps i seen were matching it around the area but my birds did good they did use alot of water and my dogs cleaned out there water jug so 7 dogs went threw around 7 gals of water today cause i refilled the water and dumped a bunch of ice cubes in it the last time they thought the ice cubes were better than the treats i gave them im thinking about adding some ice to the checken pen tomarrow to see if that might help to keep them cool ive got a few blocks i made a few weeks ago with a 3 gal bucket in my extra freezer dont know if they will like it or not but im going to be putting 4 of the blocks in the shaded part of the run for them

I've been spending ALOT of time in the barn checking on the birds. I'm trying to keep everyone as close to the floor as possible and the box fan is moving the air. Fresh water.......gosh I'm getting tired of watering

The bantam cochin adults seems a bit more prone to being too hot - the young ones not so much.

The d'Uccles are not PANTING! Guess being flat feathered is an advantage.

In the middle of all of this, I'm caging birds to prep for the shows
