Maine

we're going to miss you, are you sure the eggs are coming tomorrow? call your po and have them call you in the morning, then you can still do both. I just run up and get the eggs and get on with my day, no need for them to ride all over town with the post man when you can take them directly home
you need to let the egg rest, I do 12 hours at room temp.

It looks like I won't be able to make the Augusta tomorrow. I have hatching eggs being delivered. Should I put the eggs right in the incubator or should I let them settle a little while?

hoppy, would you bring him/her to the swap and then I can have my dad bring him/her home when he drops me off? It would have to be in the morning when it first starts, but I have plenty of bantams and standard day old chicks at home to keep them warm!

Ducklings will be coming the week of April 23. Or possibly the week after depending on how the hatch goes. I'm getting some Saxonies, Runners and a few of the rare assorted since I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted.

I am also working on building a new tractor/coop combo. I have an old hoop house/portable garage that collapsed a couple years ago so I am using some of the pipes as the framework to make new homes for some of the birds. This should keep the turkeys that are coming next week safe. And there will also be one for the five Silkies who spent the winter in my daylight basement. They are about 8 months old now and I know I have one white rooster (he loves to crow at all hours). The rest I think are girls but still no eggs. Perhaps they are waiting to get outside.

Hatching eggs didn't arrive today, so I went to the Augusta swap. I am so glad I didn't bring much cash, because I would have come home with even more. Thank you, Hoppy, for my new Silkie and my new OEG/Wyandotte banty ! I also got my son a beautiful rabbit and a nice big cage for her. Now, I am up to 24 chickens, 6 chicks, and 22+ hatching eggs on the way. I truly think I have a chicken addiction.
