Maine

it's offical, I sprained my ankle. couldn't take it any more so went to the dr to have them confirm what I already knew. at least now that I'm doing everything I should be doing (except I refused to have an xray taken- that would be a waste of money, I know it's not broken) . so now I get to sit back, keep my foot up with ice off and on and think of all the things I need to get done that I'm not going to be doing for a bit longer. sucks that I can't run (which is how I injuried myself). she said 4- 6 weeks for it to heal. got a brace on it and that seems to help more then the ace bandage did. hoping to be feeling better for the skowhegan swap, I've got too much to do to be laid up.

The good news is 'it' all waits for you patiently most of the time :) Maybe others will see all you don't do and realize THEY can do it afterall. You can offer to cheer them on from the bench.

you don't understand how much I hate for some to take care of my birds- I want it done just so, really hard to let others help in that area, been there, done that. But on a better note, I took pictures of one of my baby paint silkies, love this one!! going to keep it for sure!

Hoppy I can sympathize. Nothing worse than not being able to get around and do stuff. Of course I'm the one who fell down my cellar stairs and broke my ankle. I still remember the snap and popping sound.

. But, me being me, meant that I refused to believe it was broken so I hobbled around on it for three days before getting it looked at. After six weeks in a cast and dealing with crutches I was able to move up to a walking cast and two weeks after that I was healed. It was a 50/50 chance that I would need surgery on it but I got lucky and it healed well with just the cast. Of course I still had to take care of the horses during all this. And I also built my mustang's run-in shed while wearing the walking cast. Good thing it was summer and not winter.

I know how you must feel, this is not a good time of year to be laid up ,just to much to d:hmmn a positve note you can catch up on your chicken magazine-book reading and. Here`s hoping for a speedy recovery.

Wow, pretty. What do you know about Houdins? I haven't seen many and a friend has a couple she is offering me. I read a bit about them. Five toes like Silkies but polish with caps. Seemed neat. Does anyone keep them here in Maine? I was thinking that one of your birds might be okay for my daughter (with my help of course) but if you are keeping them then ... maybe a Houdin for her?

HELP: Looking for a nice black/lav split roo AM to breed to my hens. Anyone??

One of my 9 week old wyandottes is spitting up a lot. The other chickens come over to her and try to eat what comes up. It doesn't smell and is like a clear mucousy type of vomit- you can see what she's eaten in it. I heard it might be "sour crop" or something like that and wondering if anyone has any tricks to help?

if you get a bird from Hoppy you will not be disappointed. i have a sizzle grom her that is the best, most entertsining little chicken ever. and i just hatched one little chick from her that is already a very pretty little chick at just a week old.
