Maine

Just to let you all know, did half listerine and half water, sprayed the dogs, rubbed it in well. This am, only a flea or two, and they were loaded! Also sprayed bedding and anywhere they sleep, rugs, etc., and the firewood I've brought in so far (figure that's where they came from). It's a little sticky, but a quick brushing got rid of it. They smell pretty good too, used the mint flavor LOL. So, apparently, it works! A lot cheaper than the spot junk too. And they tolerated it quite well, no problem...

I'd just be careful if the skin is really not intact (like from rash or scratching). Listerine usually has a lot of alcohol which on its own can be pretty irritating, but if it gets absorbed (due to non intact skin) could potentially cause problems (like seizures).

Just my $0.02.

I'd also like to add that the alcohol in the listerine will stun the fleas but not kill them, vacuum really well and empty the bag far away.

We have a young fox sniffing around for a few nights now. Was actually chasing around my new white leghorns tonight. My husband scared it off and all are well. Close call though. I should have shut everyone in before running to store.

Just a funny little thing I thought I would share- my two buff orps are the sweetest things, but they seem to think that they are seriously tough too...they have started chasing both of the cats, and then decided to chase my almost 80lb lab/ husky mix! He didn't get it and just stood there...this is just hilarious to me!

Also, I was at TJ Maxx in Augusta today and saw a vehicle with a backyard chickens bumper sticker and wondered if it was one of you!

describe that vehicle and I might be able to tell you.

Our fox has not been seen or heard since devastating my dreams of FCBMs here in the spring. I believe my neighbors across the way took care of it that week. They were firing their guns awful early for anything else.

Just had guests leave. I spent the week baking and prep cooking and cleaning. They brought with them a shipment (they were the second leg of the journey) five new Orloffs for me. I have been excited to see these birds, as they come from a guy really dedicated to the breed, and I have never seen any others than mine outside of pix. Well, I opened these dog carriers and found the stinkiest birds ever!! My friend had put big pieces of watermelon in with these birds, who really had no room to go anywhere or do anything but roll around with the watermelon. OMGs!!! They were soaked and smelled horrible. I mean, hor-rib-ball. I felt a little bad for them. They are dry now but still pretty smelly. I am trying to prepare myself for cleaning chickens after I pick up the house and yard from having had these guests (9 of us here plus the baby, dog and poultry) and getting the kids ready for school Oh, what a Monday. I joked with Hoppy once I would never blow dry a chickens but. I might have misspoken.

go ahead and wash them and blow dry them, it's more fun then you think!
I have to admit it, I loaded the incubator this morning with paint silkie eggs. I am very excited with the results i've had so far from this breeding. i'll be showing 2 paints and maybe a khaki at the central maine show next month.

it was a maroon toyota forerunner I believe. I should have just walked into the store and started asking everyone if they loved chickens...!

ALso, does anyone go to the Litchfield fair? it's close to my house, and I go most years- This year I am entering a few things for judging- bread and butter pickles, and which ever of my veggies look nice at the time...

Would never put anything on that or anything else for that matter on a dog with sores, of course! We bathed them the next day as well, just because they were a little sticky. They tolerated everythilng well, and today are flea free. Yes, everyone must use common sense, even with natural remedies.

We too had a young fox yesterday, right by the rock wall on property line next to garage. Let the dogs out, they were right on it, hopefully he will not be back.
