Make a real seed flock block for less than a dollar.

Tired of the mud, dirt and ash flock blocks from the store? The 25lb store flock blocks have about 19lbs of dirt or ash in them and maybe 5lbs of seeds. The seeds are ONLY on the outside. The chickens peck away the outside seeds and you have a block of dirt and ash filler with a few seeds scattered throughout. Could the Purina folks be any more dishonest?????

Well after the 2nd block I thought there has to be a better way.......

Mix together with big spoon 5lbs of seed and 1/2 cup of molasses. Put in metal pan and bake at 325 for 30 mins.


No need for fancy stuff like oil, eggs, cinnamon, pepper or all the other nonsense. Just the seed and the glue (molasses)

There you have it the $1.00 REAL 100% seed flock block. NO BS dirt and ash filler!!!!

I would not feed it until after they are off chick starter 16 week or so.

Thanks- I understand that giving confined chickens a "flock block" to pick at keeps them occupied and keeps them from getting bored and picking at each other .... this is just the thing for mine this winter!
