Making the most of it.

Oh thank god for the sunshine this morning. So tired of the rain. Just spent time explaining patience to a seven year old. He thinks I can just put eggs in the box and they hatch. I think he is getting a better understanding. Also explained that the eggs may not make it or some chicks could die. Lots of info for a little brain but he seems to have good understanding. Planning on hanging at home with the husband today and watching football. We both need a nonbusy, no extra company day. Hope everyone is doing well.

So I kind of bit the bullet and put 12 eggs into the incubater at 35 humidity and 100 degrees. That seems to be the closest I could get it. I am mentally prepared though... The temperature did drop after putting in the eggs but I'm gonna let it sit until everything settles.

3pm not so bad to finally sit. Got a whole lot done today. Two dogs bathed. Back porch cleaned and hosed down from chicken mess. Another batch of laundry soap made. Light house work and now I get to sit and watch football and drink some beers. My awesome husband is gonna make potato casserole tonight while I yell at the tv. Hope you all had a fun and productive day!!!!

Made it through the first night of incubation. We had a spike at some point... Went up to 104. Corrected it this morning at 5 am and it has been stable at 100 degrees at 37 humidity... I notice as it needs more water the temperature rises... So tonight I shall make sure I add water before bed. Been turning about every 4 hours except at bed time. Charting everything down so I can learn.

So today I made monte cristos for dinner. Cracked open a dozen eggs... One of them had a tiny embryo attached to it. This is wierd. I collect my eggs everyday... There is no time for them to be sat on. Interesting to see, but don't want to see another.
