Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself--I have Seramas and just had my first three chicks hatch last week! I was so excited, and they are so tiny and cute.. My favorite color is the Mille Fleur pattern--I know it's not even close to what the standard will be (yet! lol!) but I love the color anyway. Here is my breeding pair... I also have 3 pet quality seramas.. but they are so sweet and good little layers and actually broodies too!

And this is Cleo-- I have a better picture of her somewhere, just not on the web I guess..

**edited to take out the confusing 'white ear thing' --sorry! **

I thought it was only bad if their ear lobes are white. I thought if the feathers on their ears are white that's ok. UH OH now I'm confused. lol

its my bad! I was the one who was confused.. because I was looking at one of my hens who actually has white ear lobes--and it's not the fuzzy feathers above the ears.. it's actually the red wattley part that has white in it.

sorry to have confused anyone... Romeo does NOT have white ear lobes-- he does have the white feathery tufts though. oopsie!

Yes, you've got it. If something happens in the middle...make the best substitution you can and go on. To get your color, I don't think it would take more than a generation or two (depending upon how dominant or strongly bred your original rooster is).

Thanks, now I just need to find a really awsome roo!! hint hint!! LOL!!
No actually I have a very nice frizzle roo so I guess I will jsut keep useing him. he is white and black and I have heard that white is weird so I will see what happens. This is a picture of him. Any thoughts???

Jen,

I'm no expert on frizzle, but I know you shoudn't go frizzle X frizzle or get too strong on the frizzle gene or you will end up with naked chickens. There is a frizzle club...do a google search..I think it is called American Frizzle Club or Frizzle Club of America. You can get a lot of good information about frizzles there. I thought your goal was to breed a color line the color of your hen.

If it helps any, I've found that my Serama all comb out early and if the comb is orangish, they are usually pullets!
