I have a single chick hatched from 2 eggs I set when mine started laying again. I moved them to a new building so they stopped a while. Here is the little single chick at 12 hours old. I have others to hatch very soon so this one will get to play big brother or big sister in a week. For now, it's a spoiled baby.

The smaller my birds are the later and less they lay and the less often they hatch out. BUT the smaller the bird the better the mom at my house. lol My littlest bird will hatch out every ones eggs. Sometimes she even goes and steals them from other nests lol.

Yeah i know the smaller they are the less they lay, but i wasnt sure if the size would be why she hasnt laid yet. I wanted to hatch out a few babies since ive never had a newborn serama chick so i was hoping she'd lay and go broody at some point. Or just lay and i could use my very good silkie momma to hatch them.

I have 2 one month old Serama's that I hatched.
Silent Bob (did not peep even once in the bator!)

and Jay (would not STOP peeping unless asleep!)

Looks like Silent Bob is a boy and Jay is now Jaylee a girl (least I hope so still a little early I think....)

Hope to learn a lot about breeding chickens for standards and colors.

(until now I just bred for eggs and meat)
