I'm late getting in on this but if at all possible, let them breed naturally. If that fails for some reason or if you are in the midst of conditioning birds, then you could AI. Look for Faile's video on AI on YouTube. It's an excellent video and she walks you though it. Size makes no difference in breeding ability. Each individual bird, regardless of size, could have breeding issues. It's not tied to Class A birds specifically.
Hey - thanks for the response! It doesn't matter if it's late. I really appreciate your response! As I said, I was just curious about it. I'm not a breeder, I just have pet chickens.
They're my buddies. That, and my roo appears to not have too many problems getting his line out there! It's kind of funny - I was having the WORST day ever (Spanish test and algebra test back-to-back on 3 hours of sleep) and I felt really poopy, but when my husband picked me up, I opened the vehicle door and got clucked at. Surprise! My silked roo acted as if he hadn't seen me in years! He made my entire day better. That, and the fact that my husband likes to take them on car rides... He's silly! He loves our birds too.
The Duke preened my hair, did some chicken purrs at me, and fell asleep under my chin. My son was holding our hen in the back but when she saw me she flew for my shoulder. They're just the sweetest babies ever! I just want to know everything I can about the birds that I have so I can give them the best lives possible. Thank you again!
