Really just stubbs? The one's I have, have all had full feathers, like our silkies. They just keep popping out here.

Really! I would LOVE to see some real feathered feet! Yes, I've only seen stubbies.

Do you have any pictures you could share? Pleeeease?

I'll try to get some tomorrow.

Here are some pics of two that I used to have, they are long gone now. The cocks feathers are almost visable in the grass, they pullets are a bit dirty, but were really full.

Never got better pics of their feet. Will try to get some of the two boys here now. They are out of this pair.

I'm late getting in on this but if at all possible, let them breed naturally. If that fails for some reason or if you are in the midst of conditioning birds, then you could AI. Look for Faile's video on AI on YouTube. It's an excellent video and she walks you though it. Size makes no difference in breeding ability. Each individual bird, regardless of size, could have breeding issues. It's not tied to Class A birds specifically.

Look like a mix roos

Excuse me? Don't think so. They came from Seramaland2. Yes these are not the BEST, that is why they were sold. The birds were not in show condition at time of pic, ie cleaned up,etc, just shots from the barnyard. The cock went on to win a BB at a recognized show, so not mixed breeds.

Haven't seen a cock bird look close to the Red Pyle gene yet unless it was a planned breeding until I saw Scotchie. He's missing the deep hackle color but you have a good start on that phenotype if you wanted to continue with it.

thanks

he has some color in his hackles but not much. what color hen would be best to pair him with ? right now I have white, black tailed white, black tailed buff, ginger red, bb red and this hen

Hey, thanks for sharing these! It's fascinating that your line pops these guys out at random. The feet are definitely feathered, there's no question about that. My other question is do they come out either clean legged or booted, or have there been some in-betweens too? Thank you again for sharing these two.

Your mottled hen is a cutie.

Brody's Broodello :

How does everyone feel about the Booted Serama? I've heard mixed messages about them, so I'll ask here.

Not many booted out there, and most of them aren't as feathered as yours. A lot of them are stubs, and tiny stubs on otherwise clean-legged Seramas are DQ at shows.

Hey - thanks for the response! It doesn't matter if it's late. I really appreciate your response! As I said, I was just curious about it. I'm not a breeder, I just have pet chickens.

They're my buddies. That, and my roo appears to not have too many problems getting his line out there! It's kind of funny - I was having the WORST day ever (Spanish test and algebra test back-to-back on 3 hours of sleep) and I felt really poopy, but when my husband picked me up, I opened the vehicle door and got clucked at. Surprise! My silked roo acted as if he hadn't seen me in years! He made my entire day better. That, and the fact that my husband likes to take them on car rides... He's silly! He loves our birds too.

The Duke preened my hair, did some chicken purrs at me, and fell asleep under my chin. My son was holding our hen in the back but when she saw me she flew for my shoulder. They're just the sweetest babies ever! I just want to know everything I can about the birds that I have so I can give them the best lives possible. Thank you again!
