Male ducks

when did he sart mateing usually by a year to six months of mateing they learn that they dont have to hurt a female.

So he should just get over it ? He lately has been very aggressive towards me and my partner when we turn and walk away from him, never pecks tho

You may need to seprate him to give the girls a break. If he keeps at it though you should look into more females. Some drakes need more some less. Rule of thumb is 3-5 hens per drake. Also when spring starts really watch him because they can have an extremely high sex drive. Age may do him wonders as well but your girls health may not be able to wait that long. Don't let him chase you either and put him in his place. Maybe try picking him up and carrying him around for a while.

Its hard to separate them as they share a pen for majority of the day but roam in the garden for a couple hours most days.. I will definitely try to pick him up and let him know who's boss haha

you can use temporary plastic fencing to section off part of the pen. That way they can see eachother but he can't get to her.

What's definitely not normal is for ducks to have hair on their necks... We call it feathers... :)

I keep only one duck and one drake (Muscovies) and though he chases her around occasionally when she wants nothing to do with it, that's just how duck mating is sometimes and he never causes injury, and she often just flies away for a bit to get a break if really needed and sits on the roof or something. Sometimes it's annoying, but it's his one job, and the eggs have get fertilized somehow, so I don't punish him or hold it against him for doing the job we keep him for.

If the situations not to your liking or proving dysfunctional for all involved, you can separate them and/or find the drakes a new home (or cull and eat them) but please don't punish an animal or blame it for doing what it's supposed to just because it doesn't fit your plans or because you've hitherto failed to manage the situation properly...

Not trying to sound too harsh. Because we're all still learning something. But I just felt that point needed to be emphasized. GL!

I completely agree :) sorry I didn't mean "show him who's boss" as I would hurt or punish him but as in picking him up and interfering when I catch him in the act and she is obviously being hurt..
I would never hurt my ducks in any way :) I think I'll just separate them for a bit
