mama abandoned her eggs :(

My silkie bella had her first real clutch. The first 2 chicks to hatch were very healthy and cute. But now 4 days later none of the other eggs have hatched and bella has given up on them. She hasent been sitting on her eggs for about 24 hours so i know they are dead. every time she left the nest i would put her back on it and then she would just leave again and make another nest for her and her 2 chicks. what happened? why did she leave her unhatched babies?

A mama hen knows when they are no good. She will leave them or kick them out.

Once some of the eggs hatch, the hen is done. She now needs to take care of the hatched babies, and won't sit on unhatched eggs anymore. It's perfectly normal, and why many people are concerned with giving the hen a group of eggs all at once and not letting her add eggs to the nest.
