Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

The new ducklings and goslings are named and I haven't even seen them yet. They should arrive in the mail on Wednesday morning. The Super Africans will be Him and Her. The African girl will be Tawny 'cause my girlfriend likes the name and asked if I'd name one that. The ducklings will be Raven (Cayuga), Fawn (Buff), Inga (Blue Swedish), and Ayla (hybrid 300). All the ducklings are girls. I'm excited and scared that I'll do something wrong and they won't grow properly. I know, it's not rocket science but they look so little and vulnerable.

Just one step closer to swans.

Swans? Did you say swans? Gotta think about this.

Edited to add:

Just checked the price of swans. Even with free shipping I feel pretty safe that I can control any desires to get some swans.

Setup my brooder with the Mama heating pad, 8 little ladies (fingers crossed) spent last night in the garage (heated to 65° air temp) and they are happy and cheeky today! They are using it just like everyone said, they duck in and get warmed up and POP out and play and eat and drink. Repeat over and over! I'm very happy and very thankful for this thread! My daughters are super excited to raise the girls!

A few of the chicks slept on the nest perch last night, so I put up my extra roost this morning...
...several hours later I observed their approval.

Chickies rambling around the big run...still no apparent issues with the big birds.

wish I had your building skills - everything looks so secure and well made!

Your ramp is about the length/incline that I have, and I have been worrying about the chicks getting down and back up. I have some broodies setting, and worry mama will take the babies outside when I am not there and that one or more won't find their way back up. I could keep mama and babies confined for a week till the next weekend comes and I can observe and make sure everyone is safe.....or chance it.
Thoughts?

Hoop Coop is almost done for the 25 red rangers coming in a few weeks - will be my first time trying out the heating pad cave.
