Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

umm they have reviews of similar use LOL

IIRC It does say somewhere on the box or insert "not for use with animals" or something along those lines; with that being said, people are free to report their use in the reviews but the employees would not be able to give advice regarding such use. We have bred litigious paranoia into our society.

Somebody better tell @Henless that her Sunbeam heating pad isn't really coming back on after a power outage - since hers did when she tested it she must have one that sneaked past Natalie!

I have one of the smaller ones. I am going to plug it in and then reset the breaker to see if it comes back on. I never thought about it not coming back on after a power failure since it has a mechanical power/settings controller!
Looking forward to hearing your results....and exactly which model you have.

A power failure = unplugging a device. Return of power = plugging device in.
Not really the same.....power off then back on while device stays plugged in would simulate a power outage.

ummm not sure why a power outage would be different than unplugging it

so I plugged it in, unscrewed the fuse, put the fuse back in (old home no breakers) and it came back on.

There ya go!

But how is it different?
Unplugging and then plugging back in is 'normal use'...a power outage/restoration while device remains plugged is not normal use and the test we would want to ensure it will operate without reset.

Interesting, I'm pretty sure I have the same non-digital Sunbeam model with 3 heat settings, no auto-shut-off. We sometimes have the power flicker or go off for a minute or less than 5. I don't remember them not coming back on afterwords.
What about if you plugged it in a power strip & then turned it off? Wouldn't that be adequate to test if they come back on or not?

But isn't it basically the same?

Scenario 1
Unplug device for 1 minute. plug back in

Scenario 2
One minute power outage - power comes back on

Don't both equal no power for the same amount of time? Isn't removing a fuse the same as un-plugging or flipping the switch if it's on a power strip? Sorry, I'm confused.
