mama heating pad question

Double check that your heating pad does NOT have an "auto off" feature that turns it off after a certain number of hours.
there is not an auto shut off. I made sure of that when I purchased it. well I should say it can be turned off. It has it that it can be 2,4,6 hrs or turned off completely. and it has 9 heat settings so I can adjust it as needed. Just wasn't sure how the MHP looked and if I needed to fix anything with that.

I would extend the heat pad to the full 12-24" size though, so the pad can lie as flat as possible as sharply bending it (like to wrap it around the heat rack) can damage the wiring.

After that, I'd just give everything top and bottom a good tug to make sure there's no area of fabric or bungee that's loose in any way, as chicks can find ways to somehow get stuck in stuff if not well secured.

Thank you. Ok I will extend it. I had it just out but the sides just dropped down to the ground so figured they would struggle getting out so put the sides up. The bungees were loose on the first section of cooling rack so I really had to pull tight to get it to the 2nd one so those are up there pretty tight. There is no fabric hanging down at all and the top is wrapped with the cling wrap so that is secure. I wasn't sure if I should wrap the bottom too or leave that as the soft material of the heating pad? Oh if I extend it should I make it a bit longer so the bolts go through next to the heating pad instead of having to push those corners around it? (no wires in the corners to worry about).

all extended. Now just need bigger washers for the bolts and think I will just wrap the towel to go on top and just lay that over. Read through a bunch more threads and saw that is how some did it and didn't really attach the top towel to the cooling rack at all. 3 more weeks till I get my chicks!!!!!! haahaa

I bought the same one😁👍

How many chicks are you getting?
My heating pad was set on top of the cooling rack, I'm not sure why people are saying it HAS to be under the rack. Seems to be making it more complicated than it needs to be that way. The wires will heat up to the temp of the pad either way.
