Day 5 candling...
one got tossed due to smell snd hairline crack i missed. One got tossed due to redring. On arrival two were broken and then i went and dropped one

So! 3 gone due to human error and 2 gone due to incubation issues...still got 10 that get to go to the next level!

So umm my chickens owe me a new leg!!! My husband made me get it looked at when i yelled after he accidentally bumped into the knee. Possible torn ligaments no driving or going in coop for a WEEK!!!if not better in week off to orthopedic doctor..this bites!!!

No coop for a week. I guess you will have to let them out so they can come to you.

Seriously, do not mess with your knee. If you don’t do things right the next thing you know you need a knee replacement. Tough outcome for a simple fall. Be patient with it.

Definitely! Today I got to take my brace off while outside and I got to work in coop for a bit! It's going to take a while to get it back to not yucky... but I'm being careful too, as soon as it started hurting i went back inside, but scattered Boonworms for everyone first

4 new big girls!! ( F to B: Yoshi, Chase, Grasshopper, and Sundae) went to replace son's chicken that died and came home with four

Well it's been a while... rehomed all my young ones, gunieas, and ducks... just too much on my plate with me doing all the work and kids and hubs not helping.

We scraped the first hatch as none seemed to be forming. But then I didn't have my new candling light... so maybe i dumped too soon. Oh well. Looks like we have 4 definite babies and 6 maybes!!

LOL!!! I had a chart some one gave me so that helped!
all the ones with a black dot in those photos have a baby forming, the squiggle lines coming out of them are the veins.

So today is Day 10 in candling the eggs!

We have 3 definite babies that are forming nicely! We are down to 2 maybes. I'll check them again in a couple days as i don't want them to explode if there really are no babies in them. So out of 12 hatching eggs, with a homemade incubator.... we got 3 definite babies! not bad!! If all three hatch and no issues, I might go to atwoods and get a few more friends for them to grow up with

Gonna also save my pennies for a good incubator to hatch our own eggs, i'm hoping for some Sussex/brahma babies!! it's my project bird i want to try and perfect.
