Mama's Flying Penguins and Ramblings

Well we lost some of our chicks to coccidia... looks like were ok for now thankfully!!

And... I caved in!! Someone local had EE hatching eggs! So Attempt #3 hatching is underway! I'm hoping for one that is close to BBQ's personality!

Update:

I did not like how dirty my coop was staying with the sand bedding, so switched back to pine shavings! If i can do my smaller coops I'll use sand then. For now a layer of animal pellet bedding to help with moisture then large flake shavings on top.
My chooks were not happy! They did not want to bed down tonight... took almost a half hour!

In other news! My hatching eggs all have aircells and some even have veining started!!! Woohoo!!

Egg Update:

Did some candling, 4 are on track for day 9, but the rest are ranging from day or day 7 development. I think the one corner of incubator might be a little cooler so I turned the cartons 180deg. And shifted them closer to middle.
The ones candling on time are very active inside! I'll try to get video of it later :D

:love:love:jumpy:jumpy

Also Coop Update:

The chickens are finally settling in with the new flooring and they are starting to come around to the new roosting bar too! Yay!!
