Mama's Flying Penguins and Ramblings

Pics
Today's weather is pouring, lightning, and thunder that shakes my house! No free range today! They're pretty ticked off with me right now but I don't want them sick or hurt.
I hear ya! And that weather is headed my way! And is supposed to rain for the next five days :barnie.. Rain and chickens DOES NOT mesh!!!

Totally agree!!
Yes I'm going to have the boys start luring her to the coop with mealworms... every chickens weakness! Hoping that helps :D

Mine have a strong fondness for Cheese-Itz as well. They can be tossed like a frisbee to lead a chicken somewhere as well.

It was mud that made me change my entire chicken set up, starting with a large covered run. Rain and chickens are not a good long-term combination.

My hubs built this for me last year when I got my first gals (first pic) and we built the same exact on the back side this year (second pic)..they are connected and I just cut a hole in the wire for integration... I also have a partitioned off section for mama and babies (third&fourth pic)... and we are in the process of fencing in a yard for them.. I’ll post pics of that when done... being fully covered definitely helps with all the rain!!

That seems like an excellent setup. Your husband is very handy .

So after the storms passed I was letting Cajun out for a bit of free range after all yesterday, it's funny to watch them play in the wet grass! I opened the pop door and went to straighten the gate as it got knocked outta whack....turned around and found this...

All my teens out plus one of my month old brahmas. That one is Toasted, and she's a Splash Brahma... :love I love the Splash coloring! Only thing is I don't see tail feathers really coming in? So not sure. I may not get from this breeder again, she's very nice and the birds look great but yet the chicks i'm finding having little things here and there that don't meet breeder quality. Oh well.

See there I go rambling. :gig
So Since everyone wanted to play outside, my chicken crazed son and I pulled up chairs and watched everyone free range, I wanted to make sure none of the teens or babies got out since it's not the most awesome run set up....yet.

as soon as Cajun came near they ran back inside so she wouldn't peck them, but as soon as she moved away.....:gig:lau:lau

After about a half hour we went and filled the waterers

All the babies trying to fit around this one., goof balls! my BLUE Jersey(i can't believe it! I have seen white and black...not blue!) is starting to tower over all, she still pecks at my shoe to get me to pick her up. :love the Australorps are starting to do that too. and my Sebrights. I love it!

everyone else over at this one. BBQ does her weird crow every time i pick her up now, I'm trying to get her to settle down, she tries to peck me some, so need to nip that now! The Marans love me petting them, cry like I'm killing them when I pick them up but as soon as they get to my chest they snuggle in (seriously) for pets. They have started pecking my leg for attention... they're bigger and it kinda hurts so trying to get them to peck at my shoe instead. Cajun hasn't let me pick her up yet but she'll let me pet every once in awhile. :pop:love

The only thing is that when my son comes in, the teens (which are his) come running to him, he's littleish still and when he bends down BBQ tries to peck at him, i might need to tell him just to not bend down i guess. or to make sure he knows to watch out. :idunno
