Cajun is a little sad as mustard went to a new home today. Mustard is going to a local family that has an older flock so no babies for her to be mean to. BBQ has kinda extended her wing in friendship so we shall see!

I am curious as to what the plan is for cleanup of the sand? Will you be raking it like a litter box or some other way?

For now i'll use an old kitty litter scoop, I'm going to find an aluminum scoop shovel and drill holes in it so clean up will be even easier. Tonight I'm going in and just scooping up what i see for now. once a year i'll take it all out and hose it down in a special bin i'm going to make with fine mesh to let sand fall through but not debris, under that will be cheese cloth so water will escape but not the sand. I've got all summer to make it, i have design in my head, just gotta put it to paper. which i'm horrible at!

Well... CHive is doing good with his girls..the tiny sussex is included in his bunch. (i might make a second flock for them not sure yet, we'll see how it goes once everyone is older)

Today I was out and about, my dad calls me as he's over checking his dogs that are staying with me till they can get a fence at new place, and he's freaking out that Cajun is just walking around outside the run. I told him it's ok, she escapes the run when she wants to tell me to let her in the coop. Tell him to just say "chick chick" quickly and walk to the coop door and hopefully she'll hop in. (i trained her to do this) NOPE! :thshe rans every which way for him and freaks out. An hour later i pull up and here she comes running, and stops right in front of my door. I get out and start walking to coop and just say "chick, chick" twice, she hops right in and waits for me to open brooder door so she can get to her nest (i keep the babies out of there now so it's 100% cajuns space for laying and for sleeping, it's working out beautifully!) i lock her in and head back out and text my dad what she did and he told me i can keep my stupid birds :gig:gig:gig

She won't follow my husband or kids either. I need her to do it for them too so i can have a girls night or whatever...but it is hilarious. :lau

Took pictures of what i think is a baby roo i have (Salt) i'm worried about his wing feathers, they don't look right, and since he's supposed to be a brahma, they really don't look right for them.

I can't wait to see how it all turns out. I love the creative solutions part of chicken ownership. Please share what you do along the way.
