Man I hate the egg laying song!

Here is a video from this mornings chatty Cathy thinking she is allowed in the house to eat birthday cards and whatnot! I didn't shoot the video my wife did, but man these chicken think they own this place. Thankfully no poop piles were observed.

Expanding on the eggs I do not want to see them go to waste at all and getting the dogs fed was a great compromise for us. If all 5 hens go into production I might be offering them to the neighbors(gratis) as I actually possess empathy for my fellow man.

My dogs would love to come live with you... they sure love eggs!

I enjoy eggs but not with the passion that in-laws do. I look forward to them visiting so I can pass off a few dozen eggs onto them.

I'm getting really hungry thinking about the kind of food you can get where you live.

Breakfast tacos. Each taqueria has their own twist. They are all good. One makes fluffy tortillas. One has meat that literally melts, it is so tender. The sauces are house made. Gringo mild or divine fire. I'm with AllenK, picoso is best.

However, hard to get a good gumbo, sausage or boudin here. Good thing I know how to cook. Allen, time to start learning. Or you could get a job in the taqueria kitchen. That might be fun too.

Crazy Lady and I were talking last night. The chickens from her childhood were a lot quieter than these that we have now. MaMom lived on a farm and the chickens were quite free range. Able to out produce all the predators. When they got too thick, the family got together and thinned. Lots of gumbo, mi cher! C'est bon!

Yes, if you go away hungry, it is your own fault. Bon appetit!

Speaking of homemade sauce yes I really love their Salsa Verde, never knew I was a tomatillo fan until I moved here from Austin. Heck I'd never seen them in a HEB before that either. Regardless, my taqueria doesn't do gringo sauces but you adjust and it usually burns both ends.

Edit in a 5 mile radiius from my home I would estimate gringo density at 3.3 per square mile. They get more dense in Port Isabel/SPI where the million plus dollar homes are, but in the Colonias for sure not. But then again I wouldn't live in either of those communities as the have few chicken and Homeowners associations plus City ordinaces.

Oh and it took me forever to figure out barbacoa was just BBQ meat(without BBQ sauce) I took the plunge and tried it, and was a bit disappointed it was great texturally but entirely too fatty I think they add lard to everything here.

For my wife this is a food desert as she is trying to be vegan, even the "Vegetarian" beans we were served start off with a Ham bone base.

Hello. I have an Orpington who sings after she lays and when the others have laid. It goes on all morning and into the afternoon. :th Her name is Ding-Dong. She is molting so it's been nice and quite the last week..:wee
Yeah I have one who is a brat and knows she is not allowed to go broody, and she sings the sing when I come in to make me think she is laying, then stops when I leave.

All my chickens let the world know they’ve laid an egg...sometimes they like to let the world know even if they haven’t laid an egg, my Christina squawks even if she hasn’t laid anything.
Hens are often happy and proud about laying an egg, and they like to tell the world about it.
Also forgot to mention that when my hens start screaming, it’s usually more than one, and the rooster likes to start in too. Also when you have had chickens for a while, you learn to recognize their calls and will no longer have to run out to the coop. It pays to just sit out there and watch them! Now I can actually speak to them in their language.
