Cool I love my 2 sussex even if they are hatchery babies. I've never had Delawares and don't know anything at all about them lol.

I love my Delawares Fl................... Cool thing about them besides being the friendliest chickens I have is that all winter when everyone else was on strike they just kept on bumping out those eggs. What good girls they are & I have a great hatch rate with their eggs too. I have 16 of them running around in the brooder right now.

haha...the first time this hen layed one of these last year I thought it might be a double yolker too, but when I cracked the first one open, it was just a huge yolk...so I tried incubating one, but it didn't work so I never tried again. Well, til now.

I checked it on day 14 and I've got myself a big old chick in there. So I'm pretty excited!

I have a few hens that will pop out one of these giant eggs and I still have to find a double yolker...its crazy

Good luck little eggies!

Good luck with the Monster egg....what kind is it? From one of your Marans?

Yeah its from one of my marans...she's one of those project girls. She is patterned like a campine almost, but still different. Its like where birchen marks usually show up she is white instead of silver. Its beautiful...when she was a pullet we would joke around and call her my 'bald eagle' girl. I tossed it in because I just had to know if one of those eggs could possibly be hatchable....

Mel, I am a general contractor, so I'll just design and build the whole thing for you, no worries my friend......but like the Guggenhiem and a Frank Lloyd Wright, I will leave my signature and stamp for all to see.

How do you like the color PINK?

Pink, if you wanna' build my barn (free of charge) you can paint it with pink primer -- take a picture -- and then paint it the traditional red/white.

How's that?

I figure the hatching thing is not as strict as it is made out to be. I've watched the hens do it on their own enough times to realize eggs are not as fragile as we make them out to be. And as for checking them when you shouldn't.... hen gets off the nest once every day and the eggs cool....If they can do it so can I. I once had a EE hen get off a nest over night, it was about freezing, and get back on the next morning. She still managed to hatch 2 of her 3 eggs, the next day!

ps I love this hatching thing so expect lots of pictures of pips and zips in about 21 days!

Math Ace~ and for all others who may be interested. I found this photo of my splash boy next to my Delaware boys.....can you all see the size difference? These boys are all the same age. Lisa and anyone who is getting eggs from Bill or his offspring.....this is the size factor I always talk about when I talk about using Bill, this is why I love him, even his girls are big.

Here's another pic of him....please excuse his dorky posture, he wasn't to sure as why I thought it was okay for me to be in his pen. Jan.....take a look at the length of the back....remember Bill's short back.....I think I got something right here.
