I finally got a few pics of them. The one on the left has more babies so far, I saw 5 so far. I saw 3 babies with the mom on the right but she keeps hiding them under her wings. I wonder if the two mammas will get along? I had to take the pics from outside the gate or they hid the babies.

Pinkchick, how do your Welsummers compare to your Barnies to your Marans? Using the Marans egg color chart, where would the Wellies and Barnies be? Thanks!

Well Crapola! Pink, this clutch has been cursed for some reason

Two problems/outages with the incubation, then tonight the power went out for 4 hours!

NO wind, NO lightning, NO ice, snow, nothing...just OUT! I knew there was a reason I kept coffee cans with lids! Filled a few with hot water and placed in the brooder. The kids are only 2 weeks old, so they were getting cold. Must've worked, cause they were all huddled next to the cans, the water was still pretty warm, I had refilled only once, and everyone seems fine.

Now I'm pretty sure the power company thinks I'm nuts when I told them that the 50* temps in the house weren't condusive to keeping my prize chicks happy and healthy!

Of course, our weather here has taken a dive. Snow tomorrow, with temps in the 30s for highs

Sure wish the warm weather would come back...AND STAY!!

The coffee can idea is ingenius though. I'll have to remember that if I have a power outage. I agree with you that I'm ready for this crappy weather to just go away. I am so ready for just plain real spring temps and can get outside to work again.
