You will need to be MORE SPECIFIC before anyone can help you . . . The different color marans have different proposed standards. Some colors don't even have proposed AMERICAN standards yet. . .

Black Copper,
Blue Copper,
Cuckoo,
Black,
Blue,
White,
Wheaton,
etc.

Which marans are your referring to?

I found most info I was looking for on the mccusa site. out of the eggs I got Im only planning of keeping some wheatons, blues and black coppers. Unless a blue copper or two show up in there. Hardest thing will be telling them all apart when they hatch since there are silver salmon and cuckoos and splash also hatching at same time. I know the person I got them from also had a few whites come out before he said they were from his wheatons but on here everyone seems to say they normally come out of blues or black copper. Who know will see what I get and start figuring out what if any im keeping I know they will not all be perfect but close to the breed specific is a good start. The chickens are me and my duaghters own project.

People, there are Blue Wheatens out there too.

As for your hatch and the colors around, the only ones that will be hard to tell apart are Blue Copper vs Blue (if you have any) or Blue Wheaten vs Wheaten.

Thanks for the advise. The eggs they came from were very dark. So what would the true leg color be more white or black have seen both. One of the other cuckoos I have has white with few black looking scales on the front, not feather shanks though and two hens one has white legs and feather shanks one has pick/white legs but no feather shanks. The more I have been thinking about it depending on how the eggs Im hatching come out I was thinking off just keeping the blues, black coppers and wheatons and not having the cuckoos.

White or pinkish white is correct for cuckoo and wheaten, pale slate for blue and black copper, with pink skin showing between the toes and scales. BC hens will have darker shanks than roos, they will be dark slate, or even have black scales with pink skin in between.

Thanks I also looked it up on the mccusa site you mentioned. Well my cuckoo hen is covered for her leg color and feather shanks and feet but body color way to dark. May keep her but may not undecided will see what her eggs look like when she starts laying. thanks for all the help and info much appreicated.

How about naming your beautiful little blue copper, Chalcosine, Chalco for short? Its a material that copper is obtained from.

OR

Delphinia (a species of blue flower)

Hey, its the best I can do before caffeine has kicked in

Blue Marans? Big fluffy butted blues?
I have a couple of blues I've hatched out from my stock in a test hatch, just waiting now to see if they get any coppering or if they stay pure blue...on my first set of three pullets from my first hatch at Valentines day they are wonderfully laced, two of three are feather legged and are pure blue thus far...I'm keeping my fingers and eyes and legs and etc crossed that they will stay pure blue....I loves the blues.

This is the person I got the eggs from I was actually inpressed with a few he likes the silvers the most and his wife likes the weatons the most. Here is his website. http://www.carolannsmarans.com/silver.html The pictures he has posted do not do them justice though much prettier in person.

Those silver salmons don't look quite right. The rooster should have a fully black chest, and no barring in hackle and saddle. Hen has barring too and should not. The picture looks like a cuckoo, not a silver salmon.
And those Black copper marans look like blacks and not black coppers. At least the Welsummers look like they're right.
If you just want a colorful flock and some pretty eggs, then I'm sure you'll be happy!
If you are looking to breed to SOP, then based on the pictures, you will have some work to do! But that's all part of the fun too.

If you're looking to start with stock that is closer to SOP, then this forum is a good place to start.
